Northwest Youth Corps' Community Program is a day program for 15 to 18 year-olds.

Community crews meet at a designated site every morning. Members work an average of 6.5-7 hours a day depending on travel time. Crews work on local conservation service projects under the supervision of a trained team of leaders. Crews then return to the same meeting place at the end of the workday. Participants gain real-world experience while enhancing their community's natural environment. Through a focus on local projects, members will become more connected and invested with the area in which they live and can take pride in the benefits they create for their neighborhood. Our Community Programs are offered each year only in certain communities in the Northwest and youth must reside in these locations to participate.

Our Sound to Summit program is special in that the crew's final week will take them to Mt. Rainier National Park to complete conservation projects, recreate, and learn about natural resources and the outdoors. During last week of the program, they will camp in the National Park the entire time. Northwest Youth Corps will provide food, transportation, and can help provide additional required camping equipment if needed.

Benefits/Tuition: Receive up to $1,625 ($325 per week) for participation in this service-learning program plus an additional $250 ($50 per week) in bonuses. Bonus amounts are based on attendance and safety. Participants also have the potential to earn high school credit for their time. There is a tuition cost for this educational program of $200 with scholarships available based on need.

-Proof of U.S citizenship or legal residency

-15-18 years old

-Ability to hike several miles and be on foot for up to 7 hours per day

-Able to arrive on time to the pre-designated meeting point M-F and commit to a week-long camping trip during the final week of the session
